Diet vs Exercise!! which is best for weight loss?

Long debated topic:
Weight loss only with calorie deficit diet VS weight loss with exercise and balanced diet.

The answer lies in defining the term Weight Loss-

Weight loss can be explained in two ways.

  1. Weight loss- by loss of fat mass, muscle mass of and bones mass.
  2. Weight loss- loss of only fat mass.

Weight loss by only cutting down calorie intake (diet alone) is where you lose your muscles & bone mass along with the fat.  How?

So cutting down calories means cutting on your food. What many don’t understand is they are cutting down on their nutrients, which are vital for functioning of a every cell in the body, maintaining bone density and muscle mass.

Significant reduction of muscle mass results in reduced metabolic rate, this is when one finds extremely difficult to burn fat even with a low calorie diet. starving your body will not get you where you want to be.

Metabolism and Fat Burning

Muscle tissue burns more calories than fat. Losing weight at a slow and steady pace helps to ensure you are actually burning fat as opposed to calorie-burning muscle.

The metabolism rate also increases as there is  increase in breakdown of muscle tissue and re-generation of new muscle tissues.

Also more the muscles more the rate of metabolism.

So what is the sustainable approach for fat loss..?

The solution is Exercise and balanced diet. Exercise builds muscle or maintain the muscle mass which shoots up your metabolism. And your body becomes a fat burning machine.

Which allows you to consume a balanced diet, rich in nutrients.

Weight training also improve your bone density, improving your bone strength.
